AW3M Structural Glazing Systems

450 1

AW3M Structural glazing This version of the AW3 Curtain walls has been specially designed to use a mechanical retain to secure the glass in addition to the structural sealing. The external glass pane is 8 mm thick and conveniently cut at a 45° angle, it is held in the frames by an inclined perimeter mechanical retain which is practically invisible. This additional noteworthy advantage makes the frames more reliable and at the same time does not alter in the slightest way the pureness of the design of the curtain walls. Also in this version the glazing must be performed by a qualified glass supplier according to the specific regulations for structural sealing producers. The bearing grid of the façade uses the exact same technology used in the AW 3S series.

TECHNICAL FEATURES

Raw Materials:

  • Extruded sections in alloy primarily aluminum EN AW-6063 T5
  •  Gaskets/static and dynamics in EPDM compound Bottom gaskets of the joints are made with an Elastomer that is compatible with the silicon sealer

Profiles:

The mullions are available with depths of 90 mm and allow the fabrication of semi unitized curtain walls by means of pre-made frames ( sub-frame + glass panes ). The thermal bridge interruption of the glass carrier profiles is reached by the positioning of polyamide strengthened thermal rods that have been mechanically braced at the external sides of the aluminum through a graphing process.

 Glazing:

The external surface is perfectly fl at with a gap of 12 mm between the glass panes. In this version the structural sealing is performed on the internal side of the glass (total thickness of 29 mm, or single glass of 8 mm) which ensures the hold of the relative glass pane, while a mechanical retain is used on the external perimeter border as an addition guarantee.

Open-able Elements:

The top hanging opening are manufactured in thermal break frames, with self balancing friction stays in stainless steel that can bear a max of 120 kg; the open able frames are not visibly identifiable in the facade.

Possible Manufacturing Solutions:

Vertical and rounded curtain walls with inserted open-able concealed top-hung (Projection).
